West Liberty Races Past Glenville State 96-79

Tori Hansen had 26 points and 9 rebounds to lead West Liberty past Glenville State 96-79.

(CHARLESTON, W.Va.)---West Liberty slowed down Glenville State's high-octane attack to earn a 96-79 victory in the final WVIAC Women's Basketball Tournament quarterfinal.

Tori Hansen recorded 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists to pace West Liberty.  Laura Malernee hit 7 of 13 three-pointers and finished with 23 for the Toppers.

WVIAC Player of the Year Donita Adams netted 26 points and pulled down 8 rebounds to pace Glenville State.  Kristen Golden added 16 points and 9 rebounds for GSC.

Glenville State held their final lead at 17-16 before West Liberty assumed control with a 20-4 run.  The Toppers used another 15-3 burst to lead by as many as 25 in the opening half on their way to a 56-35 halftime lead.

GSC cut the lead to 83-72 on an Adams three-pointer with 3:58 left, but could draw no closer down the stretch.

Jenni Robbins ran her assist total for the tournament to 23 after dishing out nine helpers and scoring 15 for the Toppers.  Andi Winney finished with a near double-double of 11 points and 9 rebounds.

Glenville State (18-10), which will establish a NCAA Division II single-season record, with 14.1 three-pointers per game, was limited to 7 made trifectas on only 18 attempts.  West Liberty sank 11 of 31 attempts from long-range.

West Liberty (21-8) will face archrival Wheeling Jesuit in Friday's 3:00 p.m. semifinal.
