WVIAC Player of the Year Vivian Garciaferro is a part of the NCAA D-II regional field.

(INDIANAPOLIS)---Ohio Valley's Anne-Claire Tans and Concord’s Vivian Garciaferro have qualified for the NCAA Women’s Golf East Regional Tournament, to be held May 2nd-4th at the Rivercut Golf Club in Springfield, MO.

The pair are the first WVIAC women's golfers to earn an NCAA spot, in just the second year Concord has fielded a Women’s Golf team.  Ohio Valley is celebrating their first-ever WVIAC women's golf title.

Tans has achieved a dominant career during her four years at Ohio Valley with a pair of WVIAC Championship medalist awards.  She has also finished as a runner-up on two occasions.

The native of Lelystad, The Netherlands also paced her team to this year's WVIAC title despite the Lady Scots only having four players.  OVU finished no worse than second during any of her seasons with the Fighting Scots.

Tans got off to a strong start this season with four top five finishes in as many events during the fall, including a victory at the OVU Invitational.

The NCAA bid is the latest in a series of highlights for Garciaferro, a freshman from San Andres Cholula, Mexico.

She won the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year award after finishing with the best overall score in the league’s three sanctioned events.

Garciaferro claimed Medalist honors at the WVIAC Championship tournament in Davis, WV on April 23rd-24th  and the WVIAC Southern Regional last September 21st-22nd, and finished fourth at the Northern Regional October 11th-12th.

She is the first Lady Lion to win medalist honors in any tournament.

Garciaferro finished in the top 15 in six events in 2009-2010, including a third-place showing at the Cottrell Invitational in West Chester, PA April 4th-5th.

The NCAA National Championship tournament will be held May 12th-15th in Mesa, AZ.
