Wesleyan Falls In NCAA Tournament Round Of 16

The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s tennis magical run in the NCAA Division II Tournament came to an end today at the hands of Columbus State (GA).
The Bobcats fell in their Sweet 16 match-up with the Cougars by a 5-0 score.
Wesleyan put themselves in a tough spot early dropping all three doubles matches.
Marc Rosner and Rafael Cavalcante (pictured) dropped an 8-3 decision to Frank Suarez and Christophe Noblet at No. 1.
Alvaro Ochoa and Daniel Lobo lost a hard-fought 8-5 decision to Olivier Simonet and Nemanja Djuric at No. 2.
The No. 3 duo of Dennis Cole and Doug Hornak lost by an 8-4 margin to Filip Cojbasic and Daniel Stomberg.
Wesleyan was behind in all six singles matches when Columbus State picked up their fifth victory to ended the contest.
Rosner lost to Suarez 7-5 and 6-3 at No. 1 and Danilo Franciscon lost to Stomberg 6-3 and 6-0 at No. 4 in the two completed singles matches.
Wesleyan ended their banner year with a 22-3 record. This is the deepest any Wesleyan tennis team has advanced since joining the NCAA Division II ranks.
