(ERIE, PA)---A total of 14 WVIAC baseball standouts have earned Daktronics Division II All-Atlantic Region honors as voted upon by regional SID's. Six players were selected to the squad's first team, including Atlantic Region Player of the Year Greyson Schram of Concord and Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year Noah Mull of Wheeling Jesuit.
Schram posted an assault on the NCAA Division II leaderboards in 2010 as he currently ranks in the top four nationally in seven categories. The Stanley, NC native leads D-II in home runs per game (0.53), runs batted in per game (2.13), slugging percentage (1.103), and on-base percentage (.599). The WVIAC Player of the Year's .508 batting average is the second best in league history and also ranks second in the country.
Mull capped off a stellar senior season with a 7-1 record and a WVIAC-best 2.09 earned run average. Mull limited opponents to a .194 batting average and ranks second in Division II with 13.02 strikeouts per nine innings. The WVIAC Pitcher of the Year tossed four complete games with a pair of shutouts. The former Wheeling Central HS star fanned 81 hitters compared to only 39 hits and 21 walks in 56.0 innings pitched.
The all-region first team infield has a definite WVIAC flair with Schram at second base and Shepherd teammates Nathan Minnich and Brian Collins, manning first and third bases. Seton Hill slugger Pat Trettel, who owns single-season school records in home runs and runs batted in, is the catcher after leading the Griffins to their first WVIAC championship. Mull and Pitt Johnstown designated hitter Zach Martin round out the WVIAC first team picks.
Second team honorees from the WVIAC include: SS Donovan Huffer (Concord), 3B Matt Coker (WV Wesleyan), OF Cory Flickinger (WV Wesleyan), OF Andrew Armstrong (Charleston), OF Bo Darby (WV State), P Ronnie Whitt (Alderson-Broaddus), P Brooks Cullen (Concord), and RP Evan Kendall (WV State).
The 37-school Atlantic Region is Division II's second largest region for baseball. The WVIAC, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association comprise the region. All-region squads selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association will be released within the next week.
