CU's Long, OVU's Burke In Contention After 18 Holes Of NCAA D-II National Championship

(NOBLESVILLE, IN)---Concord's Kyle Long and Ohio Valley's Sean Burke are among the individual leaders after one day of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship.
Long carded a two-over par 74 under adverse chilly and rainy conditions on Tuesday morning at the Sagamore Golf Club. The Ocoee, Florida junior played his final ten holes two-under par with eight pars and two birdies over to end the day tied for sixth place, two strokes behind leader Ben Vertz of Nova Southeastern.
Burke recorded a 75 and is tied for 12th. The Mississauga, ONT junior led for a portion of the afternoon, going as low as two-under par after 13 holes.
Ohio Valley is tied for 13th in the team race. The Fighting Scots notched a team total of 315 as J.R. Jones, Paul Raines, and Joe Viner all added matching 80's for OVU.
Concord ended the first day in 19th place as a team. Emmanuel Charmat and Johan Isberg had 84's. Ryan Terdik contributed an 85 for the final counting Mountain Lion score.
Play in the 72-hole event continues on Wednesday and concludes on Friday.
