Tournament Schedule:
This is the WVIAC's fifth season with a double-elimination six-team format, but only the second with a true double-elimination championship final.  Two teams qualify from each division with the divisional champions earning byes.  The schedule (weather permitting) follows:

Thursday, May 6
G1: #1S West Virginia State (28-12, 12-4) vs. #2N Pitt Johnstown (28-16, 10-6) 12:00 p.m.
G2: #1C Alderson-Broaddus (27-12, 13-3) vs. #2S Concord (28-7, 12-4) 3:30 p.m.
G3: #1N Seton Hill (31-19, 11-5) vs. #2C WV Wesleyan (29-10, 12-4) 7:00 p.m.

Friday, May 7
G4: Loser G1 vs. Loser G2 12:00 p.m.
G5: Winner G1 vs. Loser G3 3:30 p.m.
G6: Winner G2 vs. Winner G3 7:00 p.m.

If four teams remain after Game 6, the following schedule will be observed:

Saturday, May 8

Sunday, May 9

G11: Second championship game (if necessary) 30 minutes after completion of game 10.

About Point Stadium:
The WVIAC Baseball Championship moves to historic Point Stadium for the 2008-10 seasons.  Point Stadium has been restored to among the best baseball facilities in the East following an $11 million renovation that brought a new playing surface, seating areas, and electrical upgrades.

The Point has hosted stars such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Jackie Robinson in its long history.  It has also served as the site of the All American Amateur Baseball Association's national tournament for over 60 seasons.

Current Atlantic Regional Rankings:

This season will see automatic bids go to the post-season tournament champions from the WVIAC and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (California, PA).  The other four teams in the expanded six-team regional field will be at-large selections by the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee.  Here's a link to the NCAA's official Atlantic Region rankings.

NCBWA Atlantic Regional Rankings:
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association also conducts a North Atlantic Region baseball poll.  Regional media and sports information directors comprise the poll's voters. Five WVIAC schools are in the latest NCBWA poll.

WVIAC Tournament Network Webcasts:

As many as eight games from the Point will be broadcast at www.smallcollegesportsweb.com.  Kyle Cooper, the voice of Concord athletics and the minor league Princeton Devil Rays will be joined by the WVIAC Network's Reid Amos for the call beginning on Friday.  The pre-game show starts approximately 15 minutes prior to game time.  Check WVIAC Baseball Tournament Central for a complete schedule of broadcasts.

Pre-season Polls A Mixed Bag In '10:
WVIAC coaches were correct on four of the six teams to appear at the Point.  Coaches nailed the order of finish in the Southern Division with West Virginia State and Concord finishing 1-2.  West Virginia Wesleyan and Alderson-Broaddus were picked to finish first and fourth in the Central Division.  Seton Hill and Pitt Johnstown were selected 2-3 in the Northern Division poll.  Shepherd was the overall favorite with six votes.  Look back at all of the coaches' selections in the preseason poll.
