Seven WVIAC Tennis Squads Prepare For NCAA Post-Season

(BUCKHANNON, W.Va.)---A pair of matches featuring WVIAC squads highlights the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championship.
WVIAC regular season and tournament champion West Virginia Wesleyan is the top seed and will host one of the sub-regionals. The Bobcats (20-2) battle WVIAC rival Charleston (18-10) on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Bloomsburg (11-8) and Shaw (20-1) are the other squads at the Buckhannon sub-regional. The winners of Thursday's matches will meet Friday at 10:00 a.m.
The other Atlantic Sub-Regional takes place in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Third-seeded Bluefield State (16-7) takes on league foe West Liberty (13-9) at 11:00 a.m. The Big Blues are making their first trip to the NCAA post-season. Host Kutztown and Mercyhurst battle in the other match. Friday's sub-regional championship match is set for 1:00 p.m.
Three WVIAC women's squads will take to the courts on Friday in sub-regional action. Archrivals West Virginia State and Charleston collide at 10:00 a.m. at California, Pennsylvaia. West Virginia Wesleyan is paired with Bloomsburg in a noon start at Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. Both sub-regional championship matches are slated for Saturday.
The winner of the 16 sub-regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA Division II national finals in Altamonte Springs, FL on May 12-15.
