(JOHNSTOWN, PA)---Concord's slumbering bats woke up with a vengance as the Mountain Lions scored 11 times in the final two innings of a 13-5 WVIAC Tournament victory against Alderson-Broaddus.

CU snapped a nine-game post-season losing skid by posting five runs in the eighth frame and six more in the ninth as the Mountain Lions erased a 4-2 A-B advantage.

Tyler Beard's two-run homer to left tied the game at 4-4 in the eighth for CU.  Keith Morrisroe followed with a single and Concord then took the lead for good on Donovan Huffer's triple to the right-center field gap.

A three-run Brooks Cullen homer, along with run-scoring singles by Morrisroe and Huffer sparked the six-run ninth for the Mountain Lions.

Beard, Morrisroe, and Huffer each had three safeties each for CU's 17-hit attack.  Cullen and Devin Smith had two base knocks apiece.  WVIAC Player of the Year Greyson Schram went 1-for-4, but the hit was a long home run to center field in the second inning to account for the first Mountain Lion run.

Mark Ruiz, Ronnie Whitt, Gary Valadez, Matthew Markosky, and Scott Jarvis all ended with two hits apiece for A-B.  Ruiz had given the Battlers a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning with a two-run double.

Reliever Drew Bailey earned the decision for Concord with five strong innings out of the Mountain Lion bullpen.  He scattered five hits and gave up one run, striking out four and walking none.

Derek McDowell, the second of four Battler hurlers, gave up four runs and three hits in 1 1/3 innings and was saddled with the defeat.

Both starters struggled with high pitch counts.  A-B's Ronnie Whitt only allowed six hits and an earned run in six innings of work, but threw nearly 120 pitches after walking four and fanning three.  Concord's Trey Smith departed after four frames.  He was responsible for four runs and eight hits.

Concord advances to face Seton Hill or West Virginia Wesleyan in tomorrow evening's 7:30 p.m. winner's bracket matchup.  Alderson-Broaddus squares off with Pitt Johnstown in a noon elimination game.
