Fullback Bobby Humphries rambles for the first of his two crucial fourth quarter touchdowns in Shepherd's 35-27 win at Shippensburg.

Shepherd 35, Shippensburg 27 (stats)
(SHIPPENSBURG, PA)---Fullback Bobby Humphries tallied fourth quarter touchdown rushes of 66 and 20 yards as Shepherd downed Shippensburg 35-27.  The Rams racked up 532 yards of total offense as they won their sixth consecutive Great Valley Classic.

Kevin Clancy completed 18 of 30 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns for Shepherd, while Nate Hoyte rushed for a game-high 93 yards on 16 carries.  Humphries chipped in 90 yards on only three rushes.  Robert Byrd snared five receptions for 94 yards.

Steven Adams threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns to lead Shippensburg.  Bryan Barley had two of the scoring catches and racked up 101 yards receiving.  However, the defending PSAC champion Red Raiders were limited to 77 rush yards. 

Shepherd led 14-0 after one quarter, but Ship rallied to knot the game at 14-14 at intermission.  Humphries' fourth quarter touchdowns stretched the Ram lead from 21-20 to 35-20.


Seton Hill 20, Bowie State 14 (stats)
(GREENSBURG)---Seton Hill ended a ten-game losing skid with a 20-14 win over visiting Bowie State.  D.J. Lenehan tossed a pair of touchdown passes and the Griffin defense posted a gritty effort as SHU re-entered the win column.

Seton Hill built a 14-0 lead at the break. RJ Butler put SHU on the board with a four-yard first quarter rush. A second quarter six-yard Lenehan to Anthony Armstead scoring pass gave Seton Hill a two-score lead.  The Griffins got their final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a Lenehan to Tyler McIntosh strike from 21 yards out.

Bowie State owned a 313-242 total offense edge in a contest largely dominated by defenses.  Lenehan hit on 12 of 20 passes for 163 yards, while Daniel Butler rushed 17 times for 54 yards. 

Bowie State's Tyrae Reid completed 11 of 14 passes for 170 yards.  Ramono Flowers gained a game-high 72 yards on 14 carries via the ground for BSU.

Danilo Bautista registered 11 stops for the Griffins, while Nick McGahagan, Grevin Fields, and Calvin Mason notched two tackles for loss apiece.


West Virginia Wesleyan 35, Saint Paul's 28 (stats)
(BUCKHANNON)---West Virginia Wesleyan got 117 rushing yards and three touchdowns from Trey Massey as the Bobcats held off Saint Paul's 35-28.  An 8-yard pass from Adam Neugebauer to T.J. Benners with 7:42 left provided the winning points after the visiting Tigers had clawed their back from a 21-0 second quarter deficit into a 28-28 deadlock.

Neugebauer hit on 25 of 32 passes for 222 yards.  Jon Meadows snared a game-best eight of those throws for 41 yards. 

Six different Bobcats recorded sacks as Saint Paul's was limited to negative-12 rush yards.  Jonas Celian also had seven tackles and two pass breakups for the WVWC defense.

Saint Paul's Steve Miller-Cohen completed 18 of 31 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns to lead his team's comeback.  The Tigers also received a Brandon Patterson 53-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first half's final half-minute as they drew within 21-14 at intermission.

Wesleyan owned a 419-246 advantage in total offense as the balanced Bobcat attack gained 197 yards on the ground and 222 through the air.


Tusculum 24, Charleston 12 (stats)
(GREENEVILLE, TN)---Visiting Charleston scored on their first and last possessions, but Tusculum controlled the middle of the contest in a 24-12 victory.  TC quarterback Bo Cordell hit on 31 of 43 passes for 318 yards and three scores as the Pioneers avenged last season's 31-14 setback at UC.

Rashaad Carter was the receiving star for Tusculum with 11 catches for 166 yards and a score.  Deonte' Gist added five receptions that were good for 69 yards.

UC's Blaine Wilson completed 13 of 31 passes for 142 yards in his first start.  Wilson also rushed 68 yards on 19 carries to lead the Golden Eagle ground game.  Brian Lee, who gave Charleston a 6-0 first quarter lead on a 55-yard touchdown sprint, ended with 57 yards on four rushes.  A seven-yard Maurice Leak to Andre Higgins pass in the final seconds accounted for the other UC touchdown.

The Golden Eagles outrushed Tusculum 156-73, but the Pioneers owned a vast 318-149 edge in the passing category as they outgained UC 391-305 on the day.


Concord 72, Southern Virginia 21 (stats)

(ATHENS)---Concord scored their most points since 1966 in a 72-21 demolition of Southern Virginia.  Zack Grossi completed 17 of 24 passes for 299 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Mountain Lion onslaught.

Fullback Gary Roach had a pair of touchdown receptions and also hit paydirt on a one-yard plunge.  Keith Huff also snared two scoring catches.  All-American wide receiver Thomas Mayo recorded a team-high 94 yards on three receptions, including a 63-yard touchdown.

Brian Kennedy led six Concord players with over 40 rushing yards with 111 yards on a dozen carries.  Tae Gilbert chipped in 83 yards on seven tries.

Concord did not punt in the contest and rolled up 786 yards of total offense with 416 of those on the ground.  Grossi and Evin Dusold combined for 370 passing yards.  The Mountain Lions led 27-0 after one quarter and 48-14 at the half. 

Southern Virginia tallied 186 yards of total offense on the evening.  Zack Garner threw for 110 yards and a score, but was picked off three times.  Matt Mellor made eight stops for the Knights and averaged over 44 yards per kick on eight punt attempts.
