2009 WVIAC Player of the Year Meghan Zayas and her WV Wesleyan teammates get underway this season when Slippery Rock pays a visit to Buckhannon for a Thursday afternoon in-region showdown.

(PRINCETON, W.Va.)---The 2010 WVIAC women's soccer season kicks off on Thursday with a quartet of home contests.  Five more teams join the fray on Friday with their openers.

2009 WVIAC Tournament champion West Virginia Wesleyan plays the season's first match at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday when Slippery Rock provides the opposition in the debut for new head coach Patrick Holguin.  Other Thursday openers include Lock Haven at Shepherd, California (PA) at Seton Hill, and Lake Erie at Wheeling Jesuit.

Four of Friday's five contests feature road in-region battles versus Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foes.  Alderson-Broaddus travels to Edinboro, Charleston heads to Shippensburg, Concord plays Kutztown at East Stroudsburg, and 2009 WVIAC regular season winner Davis & Elkins voyages to Gannon.  Pitt Johnstown hosts Grove City in the other matchup.

Ohio Valley is the final league squad to swing into action.  The Lady Scots play their first official contest September 7 at Mercyhurst.

League play starts September 8 when Davis & Elkins visits Concord.
