Offensive Player of the Week:
---Brian Kennedy, Concord, 5-8, 170, Jr., RB, Centreville, VA: Kennedy helped Concord earn a 2-0 start by gaining 171 yards on 28 rushes during a 20-17 road win at Lenoir-Rhyne...The junior scored on rushes of six and two yards, the latter accounting for the game-winning points midway through the fourth quarter...He also added 27 yards on three receptions to push his all-purpose yardage to 198 yards on the evening.

2010 winners: 8/28-Bobby Humphries (SU), 9/4-Brian Kennedy (CU).

Defensive Players of the Week:

---Donald Marshall, Glenville State, 6-0, 230, Jr., LB, Wichita, KS/Ryland Newman, Fairmont State, 5-11, 185, Jr., DB, Ranson, WV: Marshall racked up 16 tackles, including four sacks, in a 44-10 rout of West Virginia Tech...He also forced three fumbles and recovered one as the Pioneers limited Tech to 168 yards of total offense...Newman sparked a Fairmont State rally as he returned a third quarter interception 54 yards for a touchdown in the Falcons' 27-16 road upset of Clarion...The former Jefferson HS star tied for game honors with 11 stops, including one for loss.

Special Teams Players of the Week:
---Ben Landis, Fairmont State, 6-3, 185, Jr., P, Johnstown, PA/Corey Hill, Charleston, 6-0, 190, Fr., LB, Leetonia, OH: Landis averaged 43.5 yards per kick on eight punt attempts in FSU's 27-16 win at Clarion...The product of Greater Johnstown HS boomed a long punt of 50 yards and changed field position in the Falcons' favor by dropping five punts inside the 20-yard line...Hill set up a Charleston touchdown just prior to halftime by blocking a punt deep in Mars Hill territory...The ensuing one-yard Jordan Roberts touchdown rush gave the Golden Eagles a 28-6 halftime lead en route to a 42-20 victory.

News & Notes:
---WVIAC squads are 9-4 versus non-league opponents after two weeks, including an 8-4 mark versus fellow NCAA Division II schools.

---Fairmont State senior Zack Page is now the NCAA Division II career record holder with 2,711 kick return yards.

---Total yardage meant little in the weekend's WVIAC versus Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference clashes...On Thursday evening, homestanding Clarion had a 494-217 edge in total offense in a 27-16 loss to Fairmont State...Saturday saw West Liberty own a 386-251 advantage in yardage, but the Toppers were nipped 20-19 by Edinboro.

---West Virginia Wesleyan is 2-0 for the first time since 1994...The back-to-back wins for the Bobcats are the program's first consecutive victories in nearly six years.

---Concord RB Brian Kennedy has gone over the 100-yard mark in seven straight contests.

---West Liberty saw a streak of scoring 20 or more points in 23 straight games end in Saturday's 20-19 loss to Edinboro...Edinboro was the last team to hold the Toppers under 20 points in a 35-10 decision to start the 2008 season.

---West Liberty Zach Amedro extended his Division II record string of 300-yard plus games to 14...The Moundsville, WV senior also moved past former Glenville State star Jed Drenning (1991-93, 10,876) into second place on the WVIAC career passing chart with 11,005 yards...Glenville State's Joey Conrad (2002-05) holds the record with 11,884 yards.

---Glenville State's upcoming home contest with North Alabama is shaping up to be one of the more interesting contests on the 2010 WVIAC football slate...The Lions are likely to move up to the second spot in this week's national ratings making them the highest ranked NCAA Division II squad to play at a WVIAC stadium...UNA, which downed Henderson State 27-10 on Saturday, is coached by 1985 WVIAC Coach of the Year Terry Bowden.

---Charleston has only allowed 137 rush yards in the Golden Eagles' first two contests...The UC defense limited 2009 All-American Jonas Randolph to 39 yards on 20 carries in Saturday's 42-20 win over Mars Hill (NC).

---WVIAC men's basketball is well-known for producing plenty of three-pointers...League football teams are not that proficient on that count so far in 2010, making only 4 of 11 field goal attempts to date.

---West Virginia Wesleyan has produced 13 sacks this season...The Bobcats only produced 23 sacks in all of 2009.

---Wesleyan (1.2), Seton Hill (1.7), and Glenville State (1.3) are each holding opponents to less than two yards per carry.
