(WACO, TX)---West Liberty fell thirteen spots to a tie for #20 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Top 25 after the Toppers dropped their season opener 20-19 to #25 Edinboro over the weekend.
Shepherd and Concord rank among schools receiving votes. SU was off this week, but downed Shippensburg in the Rams' season opener on August 28. CU improved to 2-0 with a 20-17 road win at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday. This marks Concord's first votes in the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.
A future opponent of a WVIAC school climbed to the #3 spot this week. North Alabama, which visits Glenville State on Saturday, downed Henderson State 27-10 last weekend to move up one spot. The Lions, coached by 1985 WVIAC Coach of the Year Terry Bowden, are the highest ranked squad in the AFCA Division II Top 25 to ever play at a league school.
